Carpal tunnel
is a cumulative problem usually not caused by a single trauma but by many
small repetitive insults. Carpal tunnel is just as the name says- a
tunnel through your wrist in which ligaments and nerves pass. As these
tissues are aggravated, they become inflamed and can place pressure on the
nerves producing pain, nubmbess, or even loss of strength. Symptoms of carpal tunnel can be caused by entrapment of the nerves at multiple joints from the neck, to the elbow, to the wrist. By utilizing soft tissue techniques such as myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and gentle adjustments, chiropractic care can aid in the relief of pressure on the nerves that are producing symptomology.
Another condition which
may present as similar to carpal tunnel is a wrist subluxation. The
wrist consists of eight carpal bones, and any displacement no matter how
slight, can push on the carpal tunnel and elicit the same nerve
entrapment symptoms.
